Construction is starting on the new hydrotherapy pool at Lakeside Leisure Centre

The ACT Government is building a new hydrotherapy pool next to Lakeside Leisure Centre in Tuggeranong.
Once completed, it will provide a vital service for many people, including those with chronic conditions that cause mobility issues, chronic pain, or those who are recovering from surgery.
Currently, there will be very minimal impacts to parking, the gym, or the pool. At present these minimal impacts include:
- From 31 July 2024, a small amount of space (1-1.5m) will be reduced from the gym floor temporarily, with hoarding in place as it shares a wall with the new building
- At times there will be increased noise and vibrations as work is undertaken. We apologise in advance for this inconvenience.
The ACT Government will provide you with timely updates if any further impacts are to occur.
To help support its construction, the creche at the leisure centre will temporarily close for 16 weeks from 31 July 2024.
A new facility, that will include a creche and a multipurpose room, will also be constructed and be delivered before the new hydrotherapy pool.
This facility is currently expected to be completed in early December 2024. The new hydrotherapy pool is expected to be finished mid-2025.
To support members during this closure period, creche services and reciprocal access to pool and gym facilities are available at the Stromlo Leisure Centre and Gungahlin Leisure Centre.
You can find more information about the new hydrotherapy pool on the Southside Hydrotherapy Pool webpage. If you have any questions about the new hydrotherapy pool you can also email the ACT Health Infrastructure Communications inbox at: ACTHDInfrastructure.Comms@act.gov.au
We acknowledge this may be inconvenient to your visit, and the ACT Government is committed to providing you with updates and notices throughout the construction.
